Books are a few of my favorite things…

I’ve started a new writing project. I often catch myself talking about it and saying that it’s hard, which it is. But it’s also awesome. Chipping away with my words and thoughts, not being certain exactly where I’m headed but going anyway – it’s the backbone of my creative life. And reading other people’s books may just be the rest of the skeleton.

I love to read and talking about books is one of my favorite conversations to have. Over on Facebook, my monthly theme is books and I wanted to share a short video with my offer to send you a book from my library in the mail (see below). Sharing books is one of my favorite things. 🙂

What I’m reading right now reveals how I’m  drawn toward non-fiction…

And I’m listening to this – does that count as reading?

What are reading that you’ve loved? What work of fiction am I missing out on?

I’m reading The Power by Naomi Alderman. It’s a speculative fiction that grapples with what would the world look like if women were in the highest hierachies of power. How would we be aggressors? Would materiarchy look like peace, justice, and empathy? Or is”power” a beast that looks the same for any gender identification? I like how books challenge my worldviews and makes me ask questions that are at time uncomfortable but necessary. I hope you gain inspiration from the books you are reading. I’ll definitely check some of them out next!

Thinking about those types of questions make for some of the best books – I’m writing that title down!
